2005 BES Annual Meeting Presentation and Poster Abstracts Watershed 263 soil metal and nutrient distribution Richard Pouyat, Ben Smith, Abe Kloze, and Kate Donovan Abstract: Surface soil metals and nutrients were measured in watershed 263 located in southwest Baltimore City. The 5 cm samples were taken randomly stratified by a landuse/cover classification system. The soils were digested with a strong acid and the following elements were analyzed: Al, P, S, Ti, Mn, Fe, Co, Ba, Ni, Cu, Mo, Hg, Pb, Cd, Na, Mg, K, Ca, As, V, B, Cr, Zn, Sr, Li, Be, Se, and Sb. The sources of the elements will be speculated using toxic release inventory stacks, geology/soils, and roads. We will compare the soil concentrations to EPA soil screening levels and Netherlands soil guidelines. |
